My feminism will be intersectional, or it will be bullshit. Another writer I respect wrote that.
I could argue that I don't have a dog in this fight at all, since I'm a ciswoman who presents normatively 99% of the time, and 100% of the time in public. But I don't and I never would, because if I am going to be free of oppression I cannot oppress others to obtain that freedom.
This hurts me because I know people heavily involved in Pantheacon and I know people heavily involved and invested in the pagan community at large both in the bay area and in a broader sense. I don't want the people I know and love to feel like they're bailing out the ocean alone with their teaspoons. Bullshit needs to be called out as bullshit, and not swept aside, covered up, or made excuse for.
All of the women who participated in this ritual would have been (rightly) pissed at the "Put an aspirin between the knees" bullshit, so why should they get to oppress others just because their "feminism" (scare quotes used on purpose) can't encompass it.
